Perspectives on Race

A Discussion about Events Concerning Race

Is UF really diverse?

with 2 comments

Even though UF has a diverse student body, where is the diversity in the faculty and staff? I have only had a few instructors that were minorities and I have yet to have a Black female as a professor. I remember reading in the alligator awhile back that a former woman professor here at the University was fired, and she wanted to sue the school for discrimination. This incident and what I see on a daily basis makes me question if UF really is diverse.

  1. Pretty much every single professor I have had at this University was a minority….And my professor now for Administration is a black female, Dr. Bertha Cato. I think Niles is one of the first white male teachers I’ve ever had.

  2. why would you want a professor based on race or sex?
i personally would want the BEST one regardless! even a GOAT would be preferable to professor that didn’t know what he/she/it was talking about.
