Perspectives on Race

A Discussion about Events Concerning Race

What if…What if…

with 4 comments

This weekend, I just thought about what this world would be like without race and being judged, especially as a black female.

Sometimes I think about everyone looking the same, the exact same. What if skin and its color did not exist? What if god made us all blind? I wonder what the world would have been like then?

What if, what if, this can go on all day.

Then again if this did happen, this world would be dull and boring if everyone looked the exact same. Skin Color and being different is good. Diversity is a strong word and can be related to beautiful art work.

Which one would you pick? THE WHOLE WORLD BLIND/ LOOKING THE EXACT SAME OR HOW THE WORLD IS NOW WITH ALL THE JUDGING AND RACE RELATED ISSUES?

  1. well of everyone was blind im not sure we’d be able to drive or even exist for that matter. But i would prefer the world as it is now, because not everyone is judgmental and diversity, although many don’t think so, is a good thing.

    • I agree with you but if the whole world was blind, I believe we would still exist. I just think a lot of the fancy things would be limited. I don’t think she was talking about literally being blind. I think she was talking about colorblind. If we was colorblind, then people would find another stereotype and then categorize people with big noses and lips. Since color won’t be the issue it would be stereotypes about looks.

I would also pick the world as it is today because I like looking at the pretty colors.

  2. i’d choose the world the way it is. not everyone is racist and judgemental. i feel like those who are accusing others of being a racist as just as judgemental as those who are being accused. its a vicious circle. minorities expect/assume that things are going to be racist or meant in a racist way so they call everything racist when it isnt necessarily racist at all.

the world being blind would just be boring and most likely there would be some sort of judgement passed on everyone for something or another.

  3. I would choose the world as it is. I think that diversity is a wonderful thing but there are some bad apples who villianize it. If we were all color blind or looked the same the world would be very a very mundane, boring place. Racism may be eliminated but I think that there would be other issues chosen to discriminate against such as religionor physical features.Regardless of what changes are made there are always going to be people who never fail to find fault with someone else.
