Perspectives on Race

A Discussion about Events Concerning Race

with one comment

I am in a writing course that  focus on blackness in the media. (Great Class). So we were having a discussion in class the other day and a student made a comment that included the word typical. What is a typical black person? or is it just what the media portray us as that makes  people think they kno what a black person is like?

  1. I think ‘typical’ denotes what has been portrayed as the usual Black person over many years, through the media as well as other sources. This can be related to whenever people make comments of someone “acting black” or “acting white”. What does that actually mean?
