A Discussion about Events Concerning Race

Palin and the Tea Party

with one comment

So apparently Sarah Palin is the newest recruit of the Tea Party Movement.  She gave a speech to the overzealous crowd in Nevada, while making jabs at Obama, Pelosi, and Reid and of course opposing the health care reform. Now Palin and the Tea Party movement can say whatever they want, but is it hurting Palin’s career by being associated with such a controversial group? Sure it would help to appeal to conservatives, but her potential 2012 candidacy kind of needs to reach a larger audience and showing support to people who can throw negative slurs without remorse is very disappointing.

  1. I feel that as the Republican party becomes more extreme, it will continue to become less and less relevant. Although they get a lot of coverage, especially because of the recent controversies surrounding health care and such, teabaggers are a relatively small fringe group. The fact that Sarah Palin is alligning herself with them will only weaken her hopes of a political future. Believe it or not, most American’s are smarter than that.
