Perspectives on Race

A Discussion about Events Concerning Race

“Biracial relationships”

with 4 comments

When a black man is with a white woman there always have to be some type of negative comments about their relationship. There is always talk that says he is using her especially if the woman have money and a lot of it. The idea that he likes her and finds her attractive just do not exits anymore. There are problems with situations like these. But when a black woman is in a relationship with a white man people see that as okay. Sterotypes likes these are everywhere especially in movies. In my point of view skin color does not matter. No one have the say say so or right to chose a partner for another individual.

  1. Why is it do you think that the stereotypes exist? I don’t think I can ever remember a time when I’ve heard a negative stereotpye about a white man dating a black woman. I would think that in a nation that is as individualistic as the United States there wouldn’t as much emphasis on race in relationships.

  2. I agree that there may be negative abuse on interracial relationships, however, maybe not for those specific reasons.

  3. I feel like any interracial couple will be discriminated against or spoken negatively of regardless of who is wearing the pants in the relationship. And it’s not even just about black and white. I feel like I’ve heard plenty of negative sentiments about asians and Hispanics in relation to just black and white couples.

  4. Being that I am a big supporter of biracial relationships, I just do not understand why people do this. I thinks its ridiculous to look down on one couple and be absolutely ok with the other. were so used to what we hear about these couples that everytime we see it, we assume its true.
