Perspectives on Race

A Discussion about Events Concerning Race

I was reading an article about a Principal who had to apologize through a statement regarding an incident during a Black History Month Parade at their school. Apparently, three teachers allowed students to walk in a parade with pictures of prominent African-Americans, which included individuals such as OJ Simpson, Ru Paul, and Dennis Rodman. The LA branch of the NAACP want the teachers to be fired and the Principal to be reprimaned, claiming that the pictures reinforced stereotypes of Blacks and that they had option to pick individuals who made a greater impact. Does anyone think the NAACP is being a little extreme in wanting them fired?
