A Discussion about Events Concerning Race

with 4 comments

I amused myself today, by people watching in turlington, what was disturbing was again the notorious Islam is the devil, group. I understand that turlington is a free speech zone, but to go up to a group of muslim girls and start berating them about their beliefs is just disrepectful and wrong. Yes they have a right to freedom of speech, and we have the right to ignore them, to not do so is to do exactly what they want out of their shock campaign. I am ashamed to be loosly associated with them, even if it is only because I am a human being, and that is it. Next time you see them, do not stop, do not argue with them if you don’t share your beliefs, for if you do, you have just stepped into their carefully laid out trap

  1. I also find it disrespectful for those involved in the anti-Islam group to degrade those who do share in the Islamic beliefs. Although, I am not one I could not imagine having a group of people call me out about my beliefs. I know we all have the right to freedom of speech but I think that some people abuse it and use it as an excuse to just say anything regardless of who it offends.

  2. I think people in the Turlington plaza have the right to be there, where whatever signs they want and say what they want out loud, but when someone approaches me thats a no no. I think that those groups can say what they want out loud, but when they directly talk to someone who hasn’t invited conversation, then they are stepping over the lines. They should be careful because sometimes it can be seen as harrasement. And i always walk away without stepping into their trap because i agree with you, they want you to talk or fight back.

  3. Attention is all the people in Turlington want and by entertaining them you are giving them what they want. For someone to disrespect them about their beliefs is totally out of line because that would be going against their rights. If you don’t agree with what they are saying or dont’t like it just ignore them.

  4. As already stated, don’t give the crazy people at Turlington any attention. That is all they want and by entertaining them, you are allowing them to disrupt your everyday life with their foolishness.
