Perspectives on Race

A Discussion about Events Concerning Race

What makes you racist?

So i know the idea of calling individual people racist is pointless on a large scale and serves no purpose. However, I think I’m having a hard time even figuring out what racist is anymore. It seems to me that no matter what anyone says or does, they are not racist as long as they say they are not racist. Does racism imply that you are intentionally offensive or discriminating? Today it seems that anyone can say/do whatever they want, apologize for it, and that makes them a good person who just had a slip up.

  1. It is really strange that people are allowed to say whatever they want and get away with it as long as they apologize. It doesn’t matter how many times they say something, no one holds them accountable.

  2. A person is a racist if they think, act, or treat any person of another race differently just because of their race. So that means if someone were to call someone a ‘nigger’ or any other racist comment, they are racist no matter how many times they apologize for saying it. The fact that they could even think it, makes them a racist… at least in my opinion.
