Perspectives on Race

A Discussion about Events Concerning Race

judging race is a makor part of everyday life…Why?

As I conversate with friends I tend to notice how much race plays a major part in places we go, things we eat, and things we do.For example we were cooking the other day and a roommate of mine blurts out.. She cooks like a “white person.” This goes to show how blind we are of racism and how frequently it occurs

  1. I don’t think it has to do with just race. I think that statement could also be about ethnicity or geographic location. I know that for the holidays I would cook like “southern girl” but it could also be considered food that “blacks” eat.

What was she cooking that would be considered a “white persons” cooking?

  3. I completely agree, race defiantly plays a part in our everyday life, even if we don’t notice it. We might not mean to come off as racist but it shows itself in our actions. Most of us are comfortable within our own race and have a fear of exploring others. So what if she cooks like a “white person”? lol Does that make the food any less?
