A Discussion about Events Concerning Race

UF Privileged Minority

with 2 comments

One minority that is unfairly privileged above other at University of Florida are the student atheletes. From what I hear and know, they get free and individualized tutoring, there schedules are set up for them, and they have a special section in the dining halls for ‘athletes only.’ This gives the impression that they are better than other students, setting an example that being an athelete makes you better than other students. Yes I think it is good to do sports and do excerise, but the student atheletes on scholarship get a substantial amount of benefits over the rest of the student body.

  1. I agree it pretty much bothers me too, but its fine because I know that some people get more priviledges then others and not nccessarily meaning that they are better then nor the student body for that matter

  2. I don’t think this is a problem at all. They may be more privileged but they also need their privacy. If Tim Tebow or any other star athletes are eating in the cafeteria with everyone else then other student may bother them by asking for autographs.
