Perspectives on Race

A Discussion about Events Concerning Race

Obama’s Skin Color

with one comment

I read an article describing a study done where a group took pictures of President Obama and made three copies of each: the original, one where his skin was lightened and one where his skin was darkened. The researchers then asked self-proclaimed liberals and conservatives to pick the picture that best represented the President.

Interestingly, the self-proclaimed liberals chose the lighter-skinned Obama as the representative picture while conservatives chose the darker-skinned Obama. I don’t want to get into a political argument but rather just pose the question of why different people would choose different pictures? Shouldn’t we all choose the same picture? and Shouldn’t that picture be the one that actually represents the president?

  1. That’s a pretty interesting article I guess conservatives want to bash him, which would be easier for them if he was portrayed as more black than white? And liberals think him more white as all the other nation’s leaders
