A Discussion about Events Concerning Race

Anti-Racism Initiatives

This article discusses the troubles universities in the United Kingdom are having with implementing new Anti-racism initiatives; while students are in high attendance at the majority of events protesting against the issue of racism, non-students or citizens that live further away from campuses are less likely to participate in the same activities. These campaigns lose their power once away from university campuses, mainly due to the way that they are promoted. Students of all backgrounds need to be reached in order to become informed about the realities of racism and what they can do to alleviate the matter- the article states that a simple matter of advertising at football games or at events that are widely popular among students would have a greater effect than what is being done at this time.
