Affirming Diversity: The Sociopolitical Context of Multicultural Education

This article that I found argues how schools nowadays need to concentrate on affirming diversity by including multicultural education that requires schools to teach and focus more on racism, discrimination, cultural impacts on learning, and language diversity. To some schools incorporating units on holidays around the world is important while others believe it is important to include a lot of the social issues that exist. How schools plan to incorporate diversity is not yet concrete but a challenge to consider. It may be hard to find teachers who are in the position or are willing to make changes to the curriculum in a fair yet effective manner. If the variety of cultural backgrounds and lifestyles are not well represented then issues may arise.
I think it is important to educate students about the issues listed above but it may be hard to incorporate a good curriculum that includes every ones background
