A 21 year old black college student was visiting home and went to walmart with her 15 year old cousin.  She ended up being arrested and taken to jail for resisting arrest and attacking an officer.  What happened is kind of unclear because this story is basically a he said she said type of deal.  Ellis, the 21 year old girl was accused of cutting people in line and pushing their things to the side so she can put her things in front of others.  She was also accused of screaming profanities at patrons in the store, employees and the police officers.  Her story is that she was being discriminated against because she is black and was just defending herself this whole time.  Well now shes in court and is facing up to 15 years in prison.  I personally think that the evidence in this article is kind of piling up against her and to me she looks more guilty than innocent.  By no means should she be facing up to 15 years in prison for something like this.  I think that’s just insane that an incident like this could cause someone that much of their life.

  1. This situation definitely seems one-sided. Even if all that was claimed about Ellis is true, I think it was a bit too much to sentence her 15 years in prison. That’s certainly ridiculous.

  2. I may be not understanding this clearly but this is certainly absurd. For one although her behavior was awfully uncalled for, but 15 years in PRISON is a bit EXTREME for those offenses. Like seriously I believe the ‘evidence’ is piling on her simply because she is a minority. For one I personally believe that had she would have been white and caused a raucous she would not be facing any charges, or atleast not as extreme charges, but that is strictly my opinion.
