  1. I have not heard of this movie yet but I am also interested in seeing it. I wrote a blog a few weeks ago questioning racism in Disney cartoons. It seems that some of the older movies have more underlying racist themes or occurrences. I dont honestly think it was on purpose but rather it had to do with the time period. I am glad we have more racially diverse shows, cartoons and now childrens movies.

  2. I feel that this movie has come out partly because of the election of a black president. By that i mean disney has come to the realization that they are falling behind in not appealing to the mass minority population. And even though they have created a movie with a black princess, she gets turned into a frog for more than half the movie! No other movie does the princess get transformed into an animal! Every other princess remains human for the movie. Even though Disney has stepped up their game with the black princess, they are still making blacks less inferior to the other princess

  3. I’ll definitely be interested in what this movie is all about. I agree that Disney is finally including main characters from minority populations because of the increasing voice and presence among these groups in the US. It’s about time!

  4. I think Disney typically makes movies that relate to the time period as well. I briefly heard about the movie you mentioned but also noticed that more minority groups are being included in other movies. The new Tinker Bell movie for example, shows people of different races but do not play a huge part throughout the movie. I am glad to see that there is finally a black princess but I do agree that it should have not taken this long to be released.

  5. This seems like it is going to be a very interesting movie but I am still afraid that this is a trailer. So you never know if Disney will put in some stereotypes of minorities in this film.

  6. I am a huge Disney fan and I have heard about this film; I’ve seen the trailers as well. I do think that the reason behind this film is because of the time that we are in where diversity is valued and is in the forefront of our society
