Perspectives on Race

A Discussion about Events Concerning Race

The Boondocks

I’m a rather big fan of the animated show The Boondocks.  If you havn’t seen the show, it’s about Riley, (an African American 8 year old) and his brother Huey (10 years old) who have been moved into the suburbs to live with their grandfather.  Throughout the episodes, the small family is faced with racial issues which often compares and contrasts blacks and whites.

I recently heard an opinion that the show is an exploitation of racial stereotypes.  I thought this was an interesting interpretation of what I thought to be a show which provides social commentary based on satire.

I was wondering if anyone shared the opinion of the show as a form of exploitation or a humorous portrayal of  racial issues in the US.
