A Discussion about Events Concerning Race

with 2 comments

I was talking with some friends about halloween. We were talking about how parents are becoming or have always been very protective of there kids when they go trick or treating. That there are many events now that have been setup for kids to trick or treat in desginated organized areas such as sorirty row. I think this may have to with what we discussed about real estate and neighbourhood segregation. Even in intergrated neighbourhoods, white parents or other race parents feel uncomfortable allowing there kids to go trick or treating in there own neighbourhood.

  1. I know that the neighborhoods in the east side of Gainesville are kind of dangerous and I can see how parents can feel uncomfortable. But the sororities do this every year as a service for the children of Gainesville.

  2. I think that even if the neighborhood are dangerous; we has people should help the children in need of help. I think if we do the right thing than we would be fine in any neighborhood.
