A Discussion about Events Concerning Race

White Man rewarded $150,000 in Racism Lawsuit.

I thought this article was ridiculous.  I don’t doubt that this man was discriminated against but why did he recieve $150,000?  Nobody deserves that much money for being descriminated against unless its to pay for physical damages.  The only thing i says is that he was subjected “to racial slurs, job sabotage and crude insults in front of co-workers”.  I feel sorry for the guy that he was discriminated against but this kind of thing happens every day and there is no way a black man would have won this case.

  1. The only way that someone should get restitution for this type of victimization is if the bills that they incurred as a result of legal counsil run so high as to warrant the majority of the money, which is doubtful; or, that the act of discrimination causes such damage as to impede their future or present earning potential within the job force. However, the color of the victim should be irrelevent, but unfortunately the American justice system has too many descretionary powers when it comes to sentencing and awarding monetary justice.

  2. Exactly how serious was this case? In my opinion, this man by all means deserves the right to be restitution for grief he experienced, but I also see your point that a black man could not get away with the same amount. No should be discriminated in this day and age and not say something about it especially with legal protections in place. I think case really shows despite it’s obnoxious price tag that racism can work both ways and that white people really can be the victims sometimes too.

  3. This makes blatantly obvious how having the means for a good lawyer can often change the way justice works. This explains the high rates of convictions for minorities who do not have the trumped up lawyers that can get some people off or get them large compensations as in this case. I personally wish that the entire system of civil court would face a make over, we have become a sue happy society and that is sad. Plus the system has become another systematic center for racism and prejudice.
